NEW YORK, May 16, 2022 – Sera Global (“Sera”) today announced the hiring of Ric Way as Head of its new Asset Manager M&A business. The Asset Manager M&A business further expands Sera’s unique, holistic real assets advisory service offerings and follows the recent expansion of Sera’s private wealth distribution services offering for managers across global markets.
Mr. Way brings 15 years of broad, cross-border asset management experience to Sera. He joins the firm from Barclays Investment Bank, where he spent nearly 12 years in North America and Europe building out its asset management capabilities on a global scale. Prior to joining Barclays Investment Bank in 2010, Mr. Way worked as an analyst at Royal Bank of Scotland. He is based in New York.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ric to the Sera team as we accelerate our delivery of premier advisory services to global clients seeking to grow AUM, scale their platforms, and increase enterprise value,” said Leo van den Thillart, Global Head – Managing Partner at Sera Global. “We believe Sera offers unique insights and relevant execution capabilities across the asset manager M&A spectrum including minority interest sales, seeding and staking, strategic capital partnerships and full buyside and sell side advisory. Ric will be instrumental in helping us leverage our deep private markets expertise to advise clients as they continue to execute on their long-term strategic priorities.”
Sera’s M&A advisory practice offers operators and fund managers within the alternative and broader asset manager market a unique perspective on key investment and strategic decisions on their management companies. By combining Sera’s global coverage of sponsors and relationships with institutional and specialist investors, and insights from Sera’s product development team, the firm is uniquely positioned to advise managers on finding the right capital partners to help grow and diversify their platforms.
Mr. Way said, “I’m excited to join Sera to support the firm’s continued expansion of its tailored advisory services and help further deepen the firm’s longstanding relationships with institutional investors and capital allocators across the globe. As managers seek creative ways to drive institutional enterprise value, establish a permanency of partnerships and increase access to fund capital, we see significant potential in the growth opportunities of this sector.
